Hello every one! I hope you are having a good week as we get closer to Thanksgiving Break! Before the holiday has come and gone, I want to share a couple of great strategies that I found when talking with my blogging friend, Nicole from Teaching With Style. Get ready to get jealous......she lives in Hawaii!! So....when I used these in my classroom, I know that a teacher in Hawaii is helping to shape my kids' education. Who would have ever thought?
Even the cover makes you hungry! This file includes a recipe for 'Thanksgiving Stew' that can be made in the classroom and shared by everyone in the classroom. It even comes with directions to help your kids create the proper headgear to really enjoy the meal!!! LOVE IT!!!
This is my favorite....turkey inspired graphic organizers that you can use for just about anything!!
My next selections are from my friend Michelle at Apples and ABC's. She creates lessons for Kindergarten and boy howdy, I have 4 second graders on a second grade level....so things like this come in handy!
Love the fall plaid cover on this, but we don't get them for the covers----I was more interested in what was inside. Do you use pocket charts when you do shared reading or use cut apart sentences in your centers? If so, you will want this one, too.
With the adoption of Common Core came the the directive in my district to teacher more persuasive writing in every grade level and we are still working it even today!. This comes with the perfect prompt to easily work that in since there is a prompt which encourages students to persuade the reader to eat something besides turkey.
I've also been using these printables by my friend, Michelle Griffo. She is awesome....so sweet....and she is a brilliant curriculum writer!
If you are like me, you kids at every level in my classroom, so for my RTI kids, this is the perfect review...sight words are so hard for some kids because they don't always sound like they look. So....if you need something to help with sight word identification, here is the exact thing you need.
These next three packets come from my friend Megan at Mrs. Wheeler's First Grade. This packet helps with non-fiction writing also and helps with our trusty-not so dusty-time order words that my kids keep forgetting to use.
This file is filled with all sorts of skill work that makes like really simple....ABC order, synonyms, antonyms....you name it and it is probably in here. And, I love the graphics, too!
If you have this file, you get another stab <no pun intended!!!> at writing some more persuasive writing. These poor turkeys sure do want to get us to eat something other than turkey!! The part that is so helpful are the pages that go with the book If You Sailed on the Mayflower since I am using that book this week. There is even 2 craftivities in the file.
